James William Atkins, 75, of Marianna died Friday, January 7, 2022 at Jackson Hospital.
He was born January 30, 1946 in Culpepper, Virginia to Olden and Gertrude Atkins. James spent most of his life in Virginia working as a barber until 2015 when he and Evelyn moved to Florida to retire. James loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys football team, especially with his dogs by his side.
James is survived by his wife, Evelyn Atkins; children, OJ Atkins, Katherine Atkins, Randall Hardbower, James Rushing and Kimberly Powell; grandchildren, JJ Atkins, Randall Hardbower, Stephen Hardbower, Daniel Hardbower, Dustin Sawyer and David Mayo; great-grandchildren, Harper, Logan, Greyson, Lizzie, Ellie, Addie, Lucas and Diago.
Memorialization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A private celebration of life will be at a later date.
