Irene Olive Rigsby passed away July 22, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Irene was a graduate of Malone School and Troy University. She spent many years as an educator and retired from the Jackson County School system in 2005. She truly loved being a teacher. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marianna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 54 years, Jimmy Rigsby. Irene is survived by her daughter, Shannon. Also survived by are her three siblings, Johanna Faye Williams (Paul), Betty Ruth King (Charles), and Dewey Olive; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Payne (Robert) and Novelle Dumas (Henry), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Place on Honeysuckle and Kindred Hospice in Dothan, AL for the excellent care given to Irene.
Graveside services and interment were conducted Monday at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Nathan Atwood officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
