Hubert “Paul” Griffin, 89, of Pensacola died early Friday, September 17, 2021 at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL.

Paul was born in Geneva County, Alabama, March 2, 1932 to Hubert Laster Griffin and Essie Jacobs Griffin. He was a graduate of Marianna High School Class of 1952. He served four years in the U. S. Navy and was stationed on the USS OnslowAV48 Seaplane Tender during the Korean Conflict. Paul married the love of his life, Wilma Peacock; after marriage they lived the rest of their lives in Pensacola. He was a firefighter and held every position in the fire department, retiring as Fire Chief of Ellyson and Saufley Fields in Pensacola, FL. Paul  was a member of the Marianna Masonic Lodge for more than 65 years.

Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Peacock Griffin in 2014.

He is survived by a daughter, Paula Griffin, of Pace, FL; brother-in-law Mac McDonald (Mary Ruth) of Lynn Haven; brothers-in-law, John Gause (Joann Peacock) of Dothan, AL and Gerald Gause (Linda) of Marianna;  along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 26, 2021 at James & Sikes Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Rabon officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
