Homer L. “Lee” Howell


Homer L. “Lee” Howell, age 79, of Alford, FL, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home with his loving wife, Rose, by his side.

Lee was a 1962 graduate of Sandy Valley High School. After graduation, Lee enlisted in the United States Army Rangers and served in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. Following his time in the service, Lee worked at the Ford Motor Company and retired after 32 years. Lee had a unique and enjoyable personality and lived life on his own terms. His quirky and offbeat sense of humor endeared him to everyone and stayed with him through his illness. Lee’s interests were wide and diverse. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying history, different cultures and customs, as well as a good action adventure. Lee had a deep love for his family. He will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Howell; his infant brother, sister, Mary Jo Howell and daughter, Nicole Moyers.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rose Howell of Alford, FL; daughter, Connie Howell of Bradenton, FL; sons, Mark Arnold and wife, Robin of Norwalk, OH; Jason Arnold and wife, Carrie of Monroeville, OH; Joseph Howell of Bellevue, OH; and Dave Moyers of Minerva, OH; sisters, Wilma Berry of Bolivar, OH; and Carol Cross of Eureka Springs, AR; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family service will be held at a later date with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

  1. Rose, Lee lived a rewarding life. The way you talked about him, I could tell he was an extraordinary man. May you always remember the joyous times you spent together and all the memories you two shared. The tender care you displayed when he became Ill was a sign of how much you loved him, Rest in Peace, dear Bear.
