Herbert Emory Hollister, age 98, of Marianna, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Herbert was born on May 20, 1923 to the late Mamie and William Hollister. Being a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Herbert loved the environment and loved raising animals of any kind. He was a registered AKC dog breeder for many years. Herbert also served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lennis Mildred Hollister; daughter, Tracey Marie Hollister; brothers, William Hollister and Dowling Hollister; sisters, Elma Hollister, Janie Rowell, Sadie Stapelton, Sally Grantham, and Betty Klimuszko.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Beth Gurganus and husband, Tony of Marianna, FL; grandchildren, Tony Gurganus, Jr., Clay Gurganus, Casey Miles and husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Bo Miles, Rett Miles, Eli Gurganus, Lindsey Jenkins, Jordon Gurganus as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be 10 A.M., Monday, March 14, 2022 at Cypress Cemetery with Rev. Gino Mayo officiating. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Akerson, Melinda Baxter, Sandra Jacobs and Amy Seaborn for the amazing care and compassion they showed during this difficult time.
