Helena Grace Kita Barnes, known to those who love her as, “Boogie,” age 7, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, and is now resting in the wonderful presence of Jesus.
Helena was born on August 6, 2015, in Marianna, FL, to her parents, James Barnes and Carrie Barnes. Helena was in the First Grade at Marianna K-8 and enjoyed interacting with her friends at school. She had a smile that could light up any room and a heart full of sunshine. Helena welcomed hugs from all those around her, especially her family. She adored pretty wildflowers and being outdoors, all animals and spending time at the beach. When she wasn’t outside, you could find her drawing and painting, or playing on her play station. Helena is vastly loved by many, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Helena was preceded in death by her granddad, James Earl Barnes, Sr.; and her uncle, Ishmon Barnes.
She is survived by her parents, James Barnes and Carrie Barnes; her step mom, Candice Vickey; her sisters, Audrey Lawson, Ronda Lawson, and Adrianna Barnes; and her brother, James Barnes III, all of Marianna, FL. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Sharon and husband Curtis Lawson of Malone, FL,; her grandmother, Norma Gorbit; aunt, Amy Nix of Cottondale, FL, Latoyia Hayes of Cottondale, FL, and Lakeisha Mayes of Tennessee; and niece, Malaysia Watkins of Marianna, FL; Nana, Debbie Barfield as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss her greatly as well.
Funeral Services for Helena will be 2 P.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Ministries of God International Church with Debra Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the time of service at Ministries of God International Church.
