Tuesday morning, the Jackson County School Board met at the request of Sybil Rivers to vote on the continuance of the hearing originally scheduled for 9 a.m. on 6/30/2020.
School board attorney Matt Fuqua told the Board, “Mr. Chairman, based upon a request from Ms. Rivers, I am recommending this matter be continued. Sometime yesterday, we got a motion for a continuance that was signed on behalf of Ms. Rivers. The school board and Mr. Moore were prepared to have this hearing today. Ms. Rivers requested that it be continued to obtain an additional lawyer. In the course of these discussions, it was agreed that rather than the school board hear this matter, the matter would be heard through a special magistrate to be agreed upon through Ms. Rivers’ counsel and Mr. Moore’s counsel. When it is rescheduled, you will not have to participate other than to determine what the results are.
The TIMES will update when the hearing is rescheduled.
