Hazel Turner Rosser, 88 of Tallahassee, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on January 26, 2023.

Hazel was born on December 12, 1934 to George Percy and Margaret Wright Turner in Fitzgerald, Georgia. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 12 after the death of her father. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville in 1953, she began working at Prudential Insurance Company in Jacksonville, Newark, N.J., and Boston, Massachusetts. After the family moved to Tallahassee in 1973, Hazel sold real estate for several years before continuing her career in insurance working at the State Employee’s Insurance Office for many years as well as FTBA Worker’s Compensation until her retirement in 2000.

In 1961, she married Roger Rosser (the boy next door) and they had two daughters Abby and Andrea. Hazel loved being a Mom! She was always the “room mother”, softball mom and band parent for Leon Band. She was the decorator of birthday cakes, sewer of Halloween costumes, school clothes, formals, and wedding dresses. She loved her girls unconditionally.

Hazel loved to travel the U.S. with her husband and abroad with her daughters and friends. Some of her favorite trips were to Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Norway, and Ireland. Hazel was active for many years in Amaryllis Garden Circle, 1st Baptist Church and the Administrative Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Florida.

Hazel was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother, Dwayne Turner, and husband Roger. She is survived by her daughters Abby Strickland (Gene) and Andrea Rosser (Maggie), her wonderful grandchildren Ethan Strickland and Kaitlyn Strickland, several nieces and nephews and special cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31st from 5-7 p.m. at Culley’s 1737 Riggins Road and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday February 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Fresh Life Church, 4852 Mahan Dr. with graveside service following at Roselawn Cemetery 843 Piedmont Dr.
