Harold Eugene Taylor, Jr., passed peacefully away on the morning of May 12th with his close family by his side at Southeast Health Medical Hospital in Dothan, Alabama after a short illness.

Harold was born on September 3, 1947, in Graceville, Florida to Gene and Mary Agnes Register Taylor. He was fortunate to have been raised by his dear grandparents, Rufus and Susan Register. Harold graduated from Poplar Springs High School with the class of 1965. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. After returning home, he graduated from Chipola Junior College, University of West Florida, and Troy State University with a master’s degree in Supervision and Administration.

Harold’s most rewarding years were teaching and coaching at PSHS. He was also honored to serve as Principal at PSHS for several years, and as a Holmes School District Administrator until his retirement. Harold enjoyed his farm and the quiet life of living in the country. He spent a great part of his life walking enjoying the scenery and visiting with friends as they passed by. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Harold was a private pilot for many years and enjoyed flying family and friends on many trips. Playing the guitar, piano, and singing provided him, his family, and friends with many great times. The greatest joy in life for Harold was his family, especially his sons and grandchildren, he loved them all.

Harold is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Taylor, his sons, Trey Taylor (Renee’), Samuel Taylor (Amber). He leaves behind his most precious grandchildren, Avery (Travis) Bodie, Jess (Lydia) Taylor, Cameron Taylor, Leighton Taylor, Bryson Taylor, and Alicen Warren. His brothers, Cody Taylor (Brenda), Terry Joe Taylor (Judy), Bobby Edmonson, Matthew Edmonson, and Susan Edmonson. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.

Harold is predeceased by his son, Benjamin Jed Taylor, his parents, grandparents, and brother Donald Edmonson.

A celebration of Harold’s life will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, May 15, 2023, a visitation with family starting at 3:00 PM. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date. James & Lipford Funeral Home will be directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The F.A.R.M. Faith-based Addiction Regeneration at 1861 Highway 177, Bonifay, Florida 32425.
