Gladys Winona “Winkie” Chandler Burnham, age 85 of Cottondale, Florida went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2021 at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City, Florida.
Winkie was born on September 5, 1935 in Greensboro, Georgia to Boyd G. Chandler and Lillian Hadden Chandler. She moved to Jackson County, Florida in 1968 coming from Immokalee, Florida. Winkie worked as a School Teacher for 35 years and was a devoted member to the First Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida. She enjoyed playing and watching sports, fishing, traveling when her health permitted; but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Boyd and Lillian Chandler; husband of 60 years: James Donald “Don” Burnham; and brother: Harvel Chandler.
She is survived by her daughter: Jo Sapp and husband Ricky of Panama City, Florida; son: Benjamin Garrison Burnham and wife Tracy of Panama City, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Jaime Chapman (John), Samantha Sapp, Nicole Sellers, Benjamin Burnham Jr., and Brandon Burnham; great grandchild: Sophia Chapman, sister-in-law: Faye Chandler of Lovedale, Florida; and many nephews, cousins, and a niece.
Funeral services will be held 11AM on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Cottondale First Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida with Rev. Jack Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Cottondale Baptist cemetery with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church: 3172 Main Street Cottondale, Florida 32431.
