Geraldine Elizabeth Hosey, age 85, of Chattahoochee, Florida peacefully stepped into her heavenly home on August 11th, 2021. Geraldine was born on July 28th, 1936, in Rock Bluff, Florida to Willard and Jennie Gardner Phillips. She was a woman of strong faith and lived life to serve others. Geraldine was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Quincy, Florida where she enjoyed years of teaching Sunday school and worship with her church family. Her love for children and Geraldine’s enduring patience made her a cherished Sunday school teacher for many years. Geraldine retired from the Division of Forestry in 1996. After which, she dedicated her life to the care of her mother and spent many treasured hours with her grandchildren. Geraldine was known for her fine southern meals and loved nothing more than sharing her recipes with anyone who requested them. She especially loved preparing meals for her family when they gathered in her home. Geraldine was also an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting pieces for her home and family members. She was adored and loved by all who knew her. Geraldine will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Geraldine is survived by one son, Billy Hosey and his wife, Vicky of Sneads, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hosey of Quincy, Florida; a brother, Dewey Phillips of Tallahassee, Florida; five grandchildren, Justin Hosey (Stephanie), Rick Hosey (Molly), Kevin Hosey, Cale Hosey (Polly) and Maighen Blackburn (Heath); eight great grandchildren; and two very special nieces who she helped raise, Virginia Maldonado and Dianne Rogers (Robbie) as well as many other family members and friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Ike “Bill” Hosey; a beloved son, Roger Hosey; a brother, Elrie Phillips; a special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Phillips, and a faithful beloved canine companion “Rascal”.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Cherry Harris, the staff of Big Bend Hospice and Tapestry Senior Living for their faithful loving care of Ms. Geraldine.

Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (9:00 AM CT) on Saturday, August 14, 2021 via Facebook Live on the McAlpin Funeral Home Facebook page with Dr. Juno Douglas officiating. The in person funeral service will be private for immediate family members only in the chapel due to the ongoing concern surrounding COVID-19. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, Florida.
