George Henry Mayo was born on November 22, 1935 to George Mayo and Ruby (Hill) Mayo. He went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2023.

George Henry retired from the Sunland Training Center. After retirement, he began selling used cars known as Mayo’s Auto Sales, where he enjoyed talking to his customers and making new friends. Everyone who met him knew his favorite car was by far the Lincoln Town Car. He was of the Holiness Faith and was a Member of Alford Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Dale Mayo and infant son, Donnie Mayo; grandson, Jared Kent; great grandson, Jay Blackwell V; brothers, Jack Mavo, John Mayo and Hillary Mayo; sisters, Maxine Adkins, Mary Butler, Myrtle Barfield, Annie Morris and Callie Pierce.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn “Diane” Wasson of Chipley, Florida and son, David Mayo and wife, Teresa Mayo of Alford, Florida; grandchildren, Shane Kent, Lance Wasson and wife, Angel, Lucas Wasson and wife, Shelby, Tony Mayo and wife, Vicky, Tammy Blackwell and husband, Jay, Tonya Crutchfied and husband, Steven; great grandchildren, Chris Kent, Ashley Kent White and husband, Ryan, Christina Smith, Raylin Kent, Haley Wasson, Lance Wasson, Jr., Makinsey Wasson, Chloe Wasson, Colby Wasson, Lane Mayo, Faith Blackwell and Nathaniel Mayo; brother, Rufus Mayo; the mother of his children, Addis Mayo, along with a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Chubby Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
