Florence Grace O’Neill Whitehead, a long-time resident of Marianna, Florida and was currently of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Florence was born in Chipley, Florida December 29, 1923 to the late William and Callan Hill O’Neill. She was a graduate of Marianna High School and worked 37 years at Farm Credit of Northwest Florida in Marianna, Florida. Florence retired from Farm Credit as assistant vice president and assistant secretary treasurer.
Florence was a Pink Lady at the Marianna Hospital for 17 years. She was also a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church for 65 years, before becoming ill. Florence was married to Clayton Whitehead for 49 years and had two children, June Alice Whitehead Baker and Ivy Clayton Whitehead, Jr.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy Clayton Whitehead; her daughter, June Alice Whitehead Baker; four sisters, Pollie Forsberg, Elizabeth Coggin, Virginia McKenzie, and Louise Porcelli; and two brothers, W.T. O’Neill and Robert O’Neill.
She is survived by her son, Clay Whitehead and wife, Carolyn B. Whitehead; son in law, Johnnie Baker of Dothan, AL.; five grandsons, Jeffrey Whitehead of Daytona, Jason Whitehead and wife, Emily G. Whitehead of Jacksonville, FL., Robbie McArthur of LA., Scott McArthur and wife, LaMargaret of Enterprise, AL, and Steven McArthur and wife, Anna of Montgomery, AL. Florence had eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will at Riverside Cemetery on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Roland Rabon officiating. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home will be directing.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund.
