Eunice Smith Speed, age 93, formerly of Marianna, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in Wildwood. FL.
A native of Mississippi, she moved to Marianna in 1953. Eunice lived in Marianna for most of her adult life and always thought of Marianna as her home. She graduated from Mississippi State University and received her Masters degree from Troy State University. Eunice taught Business Education at Marianna High School for 35 years from 1956 to 1991. In 1990, she felt honored to be selected as the Jackson County teacher of the year. Teaching the children and grandchildren of her former MHS students was special to her. Eunice was a long-time member of The First United Methodist Church of Marianna.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Speed of The Villages, FL. Also surviving is her brother, Charles Smith and wife, Linda of Marks, MS and sister, Mary Neff of Greenville, MS.
She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered with affection and admiration by her family.
A private graveside service will be at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating and Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
