Eugene “Gene” Herbert Peacock age 86 of Alford, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at his home. Gene was born on April 2, 1934 in Altha, FL to the late Ernest J. and Emily Messer Peacock. He has lived most of his life in Alford and attended Alford Baptist Church. Gene served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He was known in the community as the “Coca Cola Man” and had worked for the company for 31 years. Gene also worked for Daffins in Marianna and was the owner of Marianna Vending. Gene loved people and never met a stranger. He was a selfless and humble man always looking to help those in need. Gene loved his grandchildren, always look forward to the Friday night sleepovers and taking breakfast orders so he could have it waiting for them the next morning. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Greg Peacock, three brothers, and one sister. Gene is survived by his loving wife Roberta Peacock of Alford, sons Gene Peacock, Jr. , Doug Peacock, and Pat Peacock all of Alford, FL, one daughter Loretta McLean and husband Michael of Alford, brothers Donnie Peacock of Cottondale, and Billy Peacock and wife Shirley of Alford, two sisters Frances Arnold of Sneads, and Janice Hussey and husband Millard of Marianna, four grandchildren Morgan, Kelsey, Haley, and Emily, seven great grandchildren. He was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Services for Gene will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2020 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
