Emma Mae Burnette transitioned from labor to reward, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 30, 2021. Emma was born on January 3, 1932 in Jackson County Florida. She was the only child born to the union of George Ward and Willie Ola Long (Ward). She grew up in Greenwood, Florida, and was educated in the Jackson County Florida School system. She was a long time resident of Tallahassee Florida, who later, due to illness, moved to Houston Texas to be cared for by her daughters Mary (White) Watkins and Leatrice (White) Hunter.

Emma Burnette leaves to cherish her beautiful memory three children: Leatrice Hunter (Tyranny) of Waldorf Maryland, Mary Watkins of Houston Texas, and William Burnette Jr. (Ethel J) of Warner Robins, Georgia; five grandchildren: Tremayne Hunter of Boynton Beach Florida, Tamara Hunter of Waldorf, Maryland, Jeaunice Tribue Burnette of Albany Georgia, Wynton Douglas Burnette of Warner Robins, Georgia, and William Jamal Burnette of Atlanta Georgia; three great grandchildren: Kevin, Kaylea, and Kami of Waldorf Maryland; and a host of relatives and dear friends.

There will be a viewing on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Strong and Jones Funeral Home. The viewing will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm EDT. The funeral service will be 11:00 am EDT, Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Old West Enrichment Center, 2344 Lake Bradford Road, Tallahassee Florida. After the service, the interment will be at Southside Cemetery.

COVID-19 restrictions will be enforced (i.e., masks and social distancing) at all services.
