Edwina Howell Brunson, 93, of Chattahoochee, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 12, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1929, to Grove and Ada Howell. She married the love of her life, Angus Brunson on September 19, 1947, and graduated from Sneads High School in 1948. Edwina began her career working at Florida State Hospital in 1945 and retired after 40 years in 1988 as a Certified Medical Records Technician. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Chattahoochee, Florida where she served in United Methodist Women, as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, and was a member of Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. Edwina also was a member of The Big Bend Emmaus Community and a Cub Scout den mother for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows, and traveling. Edwina loved her family with all her heart. She was a woman of great faith and also loved her church family dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Edwina was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Robbie Davis and Quiness Lee Howell.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Angus Brunson; daughter, Norma Brunson of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Olan Brunson (Sonia) of Crawfordville, Florida; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Thiele (Eric) and Travis Brunson; three great-grandchildren, Emma Thiele, William Thiele, Everett Thiele; two nieces, Peggy Morrell (Gerald) and Tami Cribley (Donnie); two nephews, Jon Brunson (Sue) and Bruce Davis (Susan), as well as other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM Eastern Time with Rev. Mary Ann Piccioni officiating. Interment will follow at Pope Cemetery in Sneads, FL. Visitation for friends and family will be one hour prior to the service.
