Diners of The Oaks Restaurant will quickly tell you one of the things they quickly noticed when they started dining there was Eddie Davis’ back pocket. December 17, 2007 was opening day for Eddie and Jo Davis at The Oaks in Marianna and they’ve seen few closed days in those 10-plus years.
June of 2018, the Davises hung up the gloves and settled in to a less stressful life than six days a week at a restaurant. They didn’t stay settled for long however as they opened the Country Market. Hurricane Michael put a dent in that for a few months but they reopened. Recently, the opportunity presented itself for the well-worn gloves to come out of retirement and return as owner/operators of the Oaks. Thursday, January 30 is there first official day back and they eagerly anticipate seeing their customers again.
In an interview with Eddie Davis, “I’ve been here going on 11 years, December 17, 2007 and I had the Chuck Wagon for 18 years.” Jo Davis gave a history of the Chuck Wagon, “We started out on Highway 90 on November 20 of 86.” They later moved to their location on Highway 77 before opening The Oaks in Marianna. Both Davises agree they enjoyed their time off but are eager to return to their customers.
Hours of operation will for the Oaks will return to Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. They will have the seafood buffet on Tuesday nights and prime rib on Thursday nights. They will continue to serve the very food that made them famous for years.
They will be returning Marty’s Cakes to their line up of scrumptious offerings also.
Eddie and Jo invite all their customers to come visit them and enjoy lunch, dinner or both!
