Dorothy Kathleen “Kathy” (Dougherty) Sirmans died peacefully on May 14, 2019 at her home in Panama City Beach, FL with her loving family by her side.

Kathy was born on July 30, 1944 in Palmetto, FL to Dale and Dorothy “Dot” (Jenner) Dougherty and relocated to Marianna with her family in 1956. After graduating from Marianna High School, Kathy attended Chipola College, Mississippi College, and East Central Technical College. Over the course of her career, Kathy worked as a CNA and also held various administrative and accounting positions. Following her retirement from office work, Kathy’s warm people skills shined brightly while she served as Hostess at TGI Fridays and lovingly volunteered with Covenant Care Hospice.

Kathy enjoyed needlework and excelled at embroidery, and she loved spending time at the beach and found solace there. She was a cheerful, gentle soul who was filled with enormous generosity and unconditional love.

Kathy is predeceased by her father Dale Dougherty, her mother Dorothy “Dot” (Jenner) Dougherty, and her sister Judith Dougherty. Survivors include her childhood friend and neighbor and husband of 19 years Terry Sirmans of Panama City Beach, FL; brother John Dougherty of Golden, CO; sister Jill Dean of Tallahassee, FL; stepson Michael Sirmans of Winter Park, FL; granddaughters Shyla Sirmans and Gracie Sirmans of Winter Park, FL; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the management and staff of the Respite Center at the Bay County Council on Aging. Special thanks also go to Covenant Care Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of these outstanding organizations.
