Dolores Sims Folsom, 89, of Marianna, Florida died Monday, June 5, 2023, at Jackson Hospital. She was born February 27, 1934, to Alton and Mae Sims. She spent her life here in Marianna and built a life with her husband of 57 years, Odell “Shorty” Folsom. Dolores was a faithful Christian and member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, artist, and was exceptional at needlepoint and crochet. She loved being outside and tending to her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Folsom; parents, Alton and Mae Sims; and brother Billy Sims and sister-in-law, Regina.
Dolores is survived by one daughter, Sandra Mooneyham (David); two sons, Larry Folsom (Darlene), Kenneth Folsom (Elaine); all of Marianna; six grandchildren, Amber Baggett and husband, Hayes, Christy Hendrix, (Sheyna Weeks, Chase Hendrix); Jessica Mooneyham (Gabby Bess, Jasmine Bess); Tanner Padgett (Grace Padgett), Ryan Folsom, and wife, Ciara (Finn and Piper Folsom) and Michell Hewett and husband, Kyle (Ashton Hewett), (in parentheses are great grandchildren); two great-great grandchildren; one brother, William B. Sims (Sara); two sisters, Helen Mercer (Dallas), Thelma White; and one brother-in-law and dear friend, James T. Carter.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 8, 2023, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Revs. Steve Canada and Donny Hussy officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
