Dayle C. Baker, 95, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away peacefully on March 18, 2020 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Originally from Greenville, Pennsylvania, Dayle settled in Grand Ridge with his late wife and three children in 1961. He was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Frances Baker, until her passing in November 2005. Dayle was a WWII veteran and retired after many years of dutiful service to different forest and paper companies including International Paper Company in 1989. He was a self-taught mechanic and carpenter with a specialty for tinkering and always lending a helping hand. He loved to serve his community and the congregation of the Grand Ridge United Methodist Church where he had been a member since 1963. He was always happy to share a good cup of coffee and a funny tall tale with anyone at his home shop. Dayle was encouraging of his three grandchildren whom he was especially proud that each earned a graduate degree. He ran the race well and leaves a legacy of faith, kindness and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Baker; daughter, Jan Stone; brothers, Ehrhart Baker, Jesse Baker, and Herman Baker; and sister, Ruth Sutton.
Survivors include his daughter, Jill Baker Register (Russell) of Lovedale Community; son, James Baker (Vicki) of Keithville, Louisiana; son-in-law, Ronnie Stone (Laura) of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Russell Baker Register of Carmel, Indiana; Jessica Stone of Ft. Worth, Texas and Jordan Stone (Dia) of Denver, Colorado.
A private family funeral will be conducted Saturday, March 21, 2020. Interment will be in Carpenter Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caring staff of Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center and Emerald Coast Hospice.
