The Florida Department of Emergency Management announced all state-supported drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing sites across the state of Florida will temporarily close Thursday at 5:00 p.m. This announcement comes three days after the opening of the location at 4264 Lafayette Street in Marianna.

Tropical Cyclone Nine and the potential impact it could cause, is cited as the culprit in the Florida Department of Emergency Management officials making the decision to close the site. Officials said with all sites having free-standing structures, including tents and equipment, they could not withstand tropical storm-force winds.

The Florida Department of Emergency Management says sites will reopen on a rolling basis so that Floridians may be able to receive reliable COVID-19 testing.

Sites could re-open as early as Monday but the TIMES will follow-up as information is received.
