Christy D. Bennett of Marianna, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Jackson Hospital. She was 47 years old.

Christy was born on April 13, 1974 to Eugene and Joyce Ann Cook in Donalsonville, GA. Christy was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was known by others to have a servant’s heart. Christy loved serving others and was instrumental in helping during Hurricane Michael by supplying food, clothing, and other items to families in need. Christy loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was a huge Florida State Football fan, and enjoyed fishing when she had time. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.

Christy was preceded in death by her step father, Robert S. Snellgrove; brother, Jason Dwight Snellgrove; grandparents, Christeen Henderson and Willard B. Durden and Emmaree and Earnest Cook; and uncle, Wayne Durden.

She is survived by her husband, Tex Ronald Bennett; children, Brandy Tyus, Brianna Malloy (Jonathan Mayes), and Austin Malloy all of Marianna; grandchildren, Payton, Presley, and Malia Bennett; great grandchild, Sebastion Mayes; parents, Joyce Snellgrove and Eugene Cook; brother, Earl Snellgrove of Marianna; sister, Bobby Sue Fitch and husband, Robert Fitch of Andalusia, AL; grandmother, Nelly B. Durden; aunts, Jeanette Cook and husband, Chester, Wanda Durden, and Linda Durden; uncle, Royce Durden and wife, Marion; nephew, Charles Brooks; and nieces, Cheyanne and Caitlin Graham.

Funeral services for Christy will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Waylon Yates, Bobby Sue Fitch and Austin Malloy officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Christopher, M.D. as well as Deb, James, and all the other caring nurses at Jackson Hospital for the care, support, and understanding during this difficult time.
