Charles Oscar McDaniel, 80, of Sneads, FL passed away on December 12, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Charles was born on November 25, 1941, to Stephen and Myrtle Nobles McDaniel in Sneads. After graduating from Sneads High School in 1959 he went on to FAMU to pursue his certification in diesel mechanic training. He spent many years in the heavy equipment industry and loved every minute of it. In retirement, he spent his time tinkering with tractors, conversing with friends, and enjoying time surrounded by his family. Charles enjoyed watching westerns, bowling, drag racing and was quite the pool shark in his younger years. Charles was a friend to many and will be missed deeply by his family and dear friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Bobby Claude McDaniel.

Charles is survived by one child, his daughter, Mygala Wester (Marty Darren) of Sneads; a grandson, Caz (Jordan) of Panama City; a granddaughter, Ashton Jayde of Sneads; one great grandchild, Case Laine; a sister-in-law, Joyce McDaniel of Sneads; a niece, Melissa McDaniel (Karen) of Tallahassee; a nephew, Dennis McDaniel (Becky) of Sneads, and a host of cousins whom he adored.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Krishna and the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care of Charles during the last few weeks. The family would also like to thank the following for being such good friends to Charles Oscar: Homer Hathcock, Leland Basford, Ralph McDaniel, and John Ham.

Funeral Services will take place in the McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel in Sneads, FL on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11:00 AM CST with Rev. Clinton Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior to services in McAlpin Funeral Home.
