Cassie Brown quickly erases any truth to the age-old saying, “Beauty is only skin deep.” Brown was recently crowned the 2020 Miss Northwest Florida queen but for those who know “Cassie,” they know her beauty far exceeds what you see face to face.
Brown’s heart is as big as Texas, as is her love of volunteering to help others, most especially children. Her dream to be an educator comes from within and has been her dream since most kids were playing dolls while she played ‘teacher’. She had a good foundation to guide her in seeing what a difference a dedicated educator could make in children’s lives. Brown’s mom, Amy Brown is the librarian at Malone School and Cassie had the privilege of watching her mom from birth give more than she ever received to
her students.
Brown is pursuing her degree in Exceptional Student Education and plans to become a teacher in her home community. Throughout high school, Brown volunteered at various organizations not only in Jackson County but south Alabama and Shands Hospital. Some of her accomplishments are: Cheyenne’s Gift – a book drive for Hope School, ESE Classroom Assistant/Tutor, Diamond Dolls, presented “In One Instant” Teen Driver Safety Program to High Schoolers, Northeast Jackson County Optimist Club Volunteer, Camp Smile Volunteer, Operation Christmas Child-Atlanta Donation Center Volunteer, Connally Manner Christmas Party at Sunland Center, Shands Donation Collection, Delivery and Patient Visits, Donation Drive and Ronald McDonald House Visit, International Coastal Cleanup Service Day and Peer Mentor at JCARC’s Job-A-Palooza.
Brown is looking forward to her reign this coming year and the differences she can make in her community. She is the daughter of Jonny and Amy Brown and a sophomore at Chipola College. When she is not studying or volunteering, she enjoys deep sea fishing, spelunking, hunting and working with children in all areas.
