Betty Wensil Jackson, 92, of Sneads, Florida passed away on May 16, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 23, 1929, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Edgar “John” Lee Wensil and Edna Elisabeth Funderburk Wensil. She was retired from the River Junction Post Office as postmistress. Betty was a member of the Sneads First United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women’s group and a member of the Sneads Carlisle Rose Garden Club. Betty was an avid flower gardener, devoted mother and grandmother.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, James Edward Jackson, Sr. and her parents, Edgar “John” Lee and Edna Elizabeth Wensil.
She is survived by her five children, Ann Jackson Anderson of Atlanta, GA; Judith Jackson Lanier of Palm Beach, FL; James Edward Jackson, Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Tallahassee, FL; Daniel Joseph Jackson and his wife Linda of Mars Hill, NC; and Susan Jackson Smith and her husband Jimmy of Waycross, GA; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Pamela and Brady; and six great grandchildren, Cash, Chloe, Jacob, Taylor, Patience and Addy.
A memorial service will be held in the McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 5:00 PM Central Time with Dr. Ernie Gray officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services.
