Bernice Joyce Scott Pittman was born on July 9, 1943 in Apalachicola, FL. She was 76 years old when she entered into rest peacefully on June 10, 2020. She lived in Chattahoochee, FL for 73 years until her passing. Bernice was a member of Freedom Life Church. She retired from Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee after more than 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents William (Bunk) H. Scott Sr. and Doris Scott, two brothers, Bobby H. Scott, and Donnie Anderson.
Bernice is survived by her son Helton Carl Pittman of Chattahoochee; her brother William (Bill) H. Scott Jr. and wife Carolyn of Calvary, GA; her granddaughter, Nicole Denning and her husband Luke; great granddaughter Kenley Nevaeh of Ponce De Leon, FL; granddaughter Sandra Hunter Bonify; great grandson James Robert Earl Bonify of Pensacola and great grandson Matthew Dale Earl; great granddaughters Naomi Earl and Angelina Earl of Chipley, FL as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a good cook and she enjoyed being with family, attending church, especially singing in the cantatas. She devoted her life to her son and being a blessing to her family in many ways. She enjoyed and participated in the family reunions every year. Bernice loved Christmas and was
known for having her Christmas shopping done early. Her most favorite pastimes were shopping and reading.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon for visitation and the viewing at 2:00 PM Eastern Time until 3:00 PM at McAlpin Funeral Home, Sneads, FL. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
