Benjamin Wesley Polston passed away peacefully at his home on Febrary 9, 2023, at the age of 82. Wes was born on July 10, 1940, to Ed and Tearsie Polston in Holmes County, Florida. He met Joy Griffis in Sebring, Florida. They married on July 22, 1961, and then moved to Marianna, Florida.

Wes was an active member in the Marianna community since he and Joy moved there in 1962, a long-standing member of East Mount Zion United Methodist Church, and he was Past Master of Cottondale Masonic Lodge #206.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin (Ed) Polston, his mother, Tearsie Holman Polston, his five brothers, Olon, Sam, Sidney, Wilmer, and Clarence, and his daughter, Dana Polston Cutchins. He is survived by his wife, Joy Griffis Polston, his sons Ben (Tammie) and John (Kim), daughter Lindsay Rehberg (Adam), seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In the grand scheme of things, we are only here for a very brief moment in time. At the end of our book, what do we want to be remembered for? For Wes Polston, there is no doubt that he was a giver, a mentor, and the best salesman you ever met. He was always willing to share his knowledge, to drop off a plate of whatever Joy had cooked for dinner that night, to offer a helping hand, and to teach. He would always drop whatever he was doing to help anyone at any time, day or night. Wes probably, at some point in time, sold 99% of you an insurance policy, an automobile, or a cow or two, and he remembered 100% of your names and appreciated, not just your business, but your friendship.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday, February 12, 2023, at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Marvin Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in East Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery in Holmes County with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help a neighbor in need in memory of Wes.
