Artha B. Wilferd age 70 of Cottondale passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Artha is a native of Alford, born on May 10, 1950 to the late James Daniel and Scottie Belle Barnes. She was a wonderful homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Cottondale. Artha love shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Cottondale Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers J.D. Barnes and Dallas Barnes, two sisters Lula Brock and Lillie Mayo.
Artha is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Gene Wilferd, daughters Melissa Wilferd Songer and husband John of Dothan, AL, and Melanie Roland and husband Scotty of Cottondale, brother Harold Barnes, sister Marcelle Richards, brothers-in-law Bland Wilferd and wife Linda, and Walter Boland, sisters-in-law Betty Barnes, and Dawn Boland. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kendra Brogdon and husband Sean, Trent Monk and wife Emily, Colby Roland, Avery Roland, and Kasey Lathan, great grandchildren Corrin McCord, Kaitlyn Monk, Cooper McCord, Bentley Monk, Owen Monk, special friends Donnell & Patricia Davis, and Bryon Ritcher, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Services for Artha will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 23, 2020 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, 2020 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
