Amy June Griffin, 66, died peacefully on August 10, 2022, at her home, with her family by her side.

Amy leaves her spouse and best friend, Cathryn Gooding, her two furry babies, Jessie and Earle, her sisters Nelwyn Griffin, Nancy Griffin Deese (Jerrold), and Judy Griffin (Lora Vitale), niece Allison Deese Ellis, nephews Wesley Deese and Max Gooding, great nephews, Jamison Trolard and Buddy Roy Deese, and great niece, Lyanna Ellis.

Amy was born in Marianna, Florida and raised in Grand Ridge, Florida. She was the second born daughter of T. J. and Alice Deen Griffin who preceded her in death. She graduated from Grand Ridge School in 1974 and attended Chipola Junior College and FSU. She moved to Tallahassee in 1979 and worked for the City of Tallahassee Fire Department for 25 years before retiring as a Lieutenant on January 1, 2006. She also owned and ran Griffin’s Greenery & Farm, Inc. from 1998-2018.

Amy had a passion for bike riding, fishing, and enjoying time spent with her family and friends. She especially loved hunting, fishing, and cooking out with her cousins, Dean, Lee, and Paul Starling in Steinhatchee, Florida, where they all gathered up.

There will be no official funeral service, but a celebration of her life will be held at her residence on September 10, 2022 at a time to be determined. The family requests that any donations to honor Amy be made to TMH Cancer Center, Big Bend Hospice, or Leon County Humane Society.
