Alfonso “AF” Barrs Jr., of Greenwood, FL, passed away on Sunday June 5,2022 at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

The life of AF Barrs is a beautiful library of a Florida “farm boy” that was defined by big dreams and accomplishments, bookended by farm and country life. His accomplishments include, to name a few; program and training writing for multiple different companies, management in the timber business, aviation instruction and education, educator of multiple universities including, Seminole Community College, Chipola Junior College where he was the Dean of Business education and training, Concorde Career Colleges, and World Transportation University. He retired from Ryder systems in 1997 as the Training manager, director and designer. After retirement, he spent his days working on his beautiful farm in Greenwood, where his “farm boy” life came full circle, where he loved hunting, fishing, working on projects, and camping just to name a few. AF was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and a stranger to none.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso Barrs Sr. and Evia Adetha Bell Barrs; sister, Evia Loye, and two brothers, Marion LaVern and Wayman Franklin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Priscilla “Sue” Barrs; daughters, Debbie Henry and husband, Russ of DeLand, FL, Susan Ketchabaw and husband, Wes of Homosassa, FL, and Terri Laney and husband Ken of Gatesville, TX; 10 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Laney officiating, Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
