Agnes P. Knowles, age 95, passed away October 29, 2019.
Born in 1924 to Quitman and Claire Jolley Patterson of Hub, Mississippi, Agnes was orphaned by age five. She then went to live with foster parents in Taylorsville, Mississippi. In 1945 Agnes attended Mississippi Southern University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music and minors in Music Theory and English. She moved to Sneads, FL and taught elementary school music. While teaching there she met and married Charles D. Knowles, Jr. They resided in Marianna, FL from 1953 until 1994. She moved to Tallahassee shortly after her husband Charles passed away to be closer to her daughter.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Charles D. Knowles, Jr. and their youngest son, Andrew Clifford Knowles. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Winebrenner (Murray) of Tallahassee, her son Kevin Knowles of Jacksonville, FL, and her daughter Lou Ann Atwood of Jacksonville, FL. In addition, she is survived by 5 grandchildren.
