If your home has wall-to-wall carpeting, it’s necessary to bring in a carpet-cleaning machine from time to time to shampoo the entire floor.
But for small spot-cleaning and to remove odors, all you need is baking soda, a spray bottle with water and a scrub brush.

Sprinkle the carpet generously with baking soda.
Mist the area lightly with hot water in a spray bottle.
Scrub the spot with a stiff scrub brush.
Allow the spot to dry.
Vacuum up any residue.
