Jackson County Health Department Director Sandy Martin gave the following COVID update numbers as of 8/13/2021:
They are presently monitoring 553 cases with 41 COVID patients in Jackson Hospital. There are nine patients on ventilators and there has been 175 deaths since the onset of COVID.
For the reporting week ending 8/12/2021, Florida Department of Health reports Jackson County’s population as 47,261 with 16,864 people vaccinated. That is a 41% vaccination rate. Since March 2020, there have been 7,974 positive COVID cases for a 25.2% case positivity. For the reporting period from August 06 through August 12, there were 389 people vaccinated, 348 positive cases for a 19.4% new case positivity rate.
Vaccinations remain available at CVS, the Jackson County Health Department, Wal Mart and Winn Dixie at no charge.
