The Sneads Lady Pirates won their ELEVENTH district championship in front of their home crowd last Thursday evening.  The Pirate gym was packed with fans from both Cottondale and Sneads, with the Sneads fans all cheering their hardest in what they now know is their long-time coach Sheila Roberts’ last season for the Lady Pirates.  They want one more state championship, giving them five straight and setting an almost unprecedented record and one that will surely be one that stands the test of time for years to come.

The Lady Pirates faced county rival Cottondale in the championship game. The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Hornets in three sets 25-14, 25-6, and 25-8.

Lacee Glover led the Lady Pirates in kills with 13. Michaela Edenfield and Ariana Lee added nine kills each. Kiara Garrett checked in with six kills, followed by Allie Ann McCord with four and Kazia Gainer with one.

Leading in ace serves with four was Alyssa Stagner. Adding two ace serves were Lacee Glover and Abby Perkins. On board with one ace serve each were Allie Ann McCord, Sierra McNeil, and Taylor Roberts.  Recording one block each were Michaela Edenfield, Lacee Glover, and Alyssa Stagner.

Recording a team leading 29 digs was Taylor Roberts. Lacee Glover added seven digs, followed by Allie Ann McCord with six. Posting five digs was Kayla Edwards. Checking in with four digs was Alyssa Stagner, right behind her with three was Sierra McNeil. On board with two digs each were Kiara Garrett and Abby Perkins.

Having a banner night with 40 assists was Alyssa Stagner. Taylor Roberts added three assists of her own.

Individual stats were not available at press time for Cottondale.  Sneads was scheduled to host Laurel Hill Thursday night with a 7 p.m. start time.  Results of that game were not available with Cottondale traveling to take on Baker with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
