Marianna High Golf team ready to tee off in search of SIX

The Marianna High Bulldogs golf team has been working hard and are ready to challenge for another district championship.  They picked up their fifth straight last season but are aiming for the half-dozen mark this year.  Coach Tyler Wilson returns to lead the team in their quest and is hopeful this year will be the year they not only win district but make it out of regionals.  

Wilson says, “We have six seniors with experience this year.  Our goal is to win district and regionals or place to go to state.  We have about ten more golfers that can contend to play in matches this year.  We would like to thank the Optimist Clubs for all they do to support our golf program and for the community at large.”

This year Annika Beebe will be the only girl competing and is expected to be even more competitive than last year.  

Making up the boys’ golf team will be Lee Bethea, Tra’vyon Johnson, Ben Knowles, Henry Knowles, Austin Malloy, Tristan Mulder, Hunter Mitchell, Wilton Pittman, Garrett Roper, Tyler Roper, Ethan Sapp, Will Saunders, Dante Sonaglia, and Nick Walker.

The team tees off their first tournament this afternoon (Thursday) at 3:30 at Dogwood Lakes in Holmes County.  Their next match will be at home at Indian Springs Golf Course Monday with tee time set for 2:30.
