The Sneads Pirates wasted no time Friday night in giving the crowd of Pirate fans something to cheer about in their 42-6 rout of the North Bay Haven Buccaneers.

Sneads first score was small in comparison, two points coming off of a safety that resulted from a fumble caused by Darius Raines and Hunter Barnes in the end zone.  Fumbles continued to plague the Bucs throughout the night, with the Pirate defense swarming their offense.

Jamal Wood picked up the second Pirate fumble and found the end zone unscathed to put Sneads up 8-0.  Locke Pohto made good on the extra point, sending it straight through the uprights, making it a 9-0 game.

Quarterback Matt Thomas found Tyler Lawrence on a long pass to set up a short run by Larry Hill into the end zone for another touchdown.  The extra point attempt failed but the Pirates were in control at 16-0.  The Pirates went into the half with a 22-0 shut out over the Bucs.

Matt Thomas showed his skills as a two-way quarterback with a 25-yard run to put the ball inside the 20-yard line.  Ricky Henderson found the end zone, putting the Pirates up 29-0 with 9:50 left in the third quarter.  Jacore’ Irving had a 29-yard pass from Thomas with five minutes left in the third quarter to make it a 35-0 Pirate thrashing.

The Bucs were able to squeak out a score but the extra point was no good and the Pirates remained in control 35-6 with less than three minutes to go in the third quarter.

Sneads put their final points on the board with six minutes left in the game Tyler Lawrence again found the end zone on a 60-yard run with Pohto making good on yet another extra point to give the Pirates a resounding 42-6 lead that would hold to win the game.

Matt Thomas was 15 of 22 in his air attack for 250 yards, and two touchdowns.  His longest pass of the night was 62 yards.  Jacore’ Irving had three receptions for 103 yards, with Tyler Lawrence reeling in seven catches for 101 yards.  Jamal Wood snagged two passes for 23 yards, with Jalen Johnson recording two passes for 17 yards.

Larry Hill led the Pirates in rushing with 51 yards on nine carries and one touchdown, followed by Thomas with 31 yards on eight carries.  Ricky Harrison had five carries for 28 yards and one touchdown, while Trent Smith has two carries for 16 yards.  Devante Pollock had four carries for 13 yards and one touchdown.

Locke Pohto had a great night with six kickoffs for a total of 240 yards, and two punts for 30 and 25 yards each.

Sneads will travel to Bronson Friday night before returning home to Citizens Field on September 9 to host Maclay.  Game time is 7 p.m. against Bronson with a 6:30 kickoff against Maclay.
