Jonah Mercer places sixth and medals at State

Jonah Mercer joined an elite group from Marianna High School last Saturday at the State Wrestling Tournament. Mercer was one of three to medal in the Panhandle that extends from the Alabama line to the Leon County line in all 14 weight classes at the tournament. To say Marianna High School was well-represented is an understatement.

Three wrestlers made it out of regionals to advance to state. Senior Jonah Mercer, junior Corey Davis, and junior John Maddox.  All three performed well and completed a remarkable season.

Next  year, Marianna returns a host of experienced wrestlers and the future looks promising for more state medals, and a good possibility of a state championship or two.
