Deeanna Golden is a veteran teacher at Golson Elementary School. Each year, the list of parents requesting her to be their child’s teacher grows and grows. Golson Principal Amy Allen sums up the reason for the requests in three short words, “She is awesome.”
The love Golden has for her students and teaching is without a doubt visible to anyone when they enter her room. Kids’ thirst for knowledge increases daily throughout the school year. Her gift to reach every child is witnessed year after year as her students excel in her room and beyond.
Larry Moore said of Golden and the job she does, “We appreciate Mrs. Golden and we appreciate what she does for our children.”
Golden was the recipient of a national award recently exemplifying her knowledge and expertise in education.
Janie Nolen has taught with Golden for many years and has the highest of praise for her, “Deeanna is the best. She loves her kids and follows them as they move from school to school and into their careers. She is creative and brings out the best in her students. Golson is so fortunate to have her and her kids are very fortunate.”
Amy Allen elaborated on Golden, “She is so good with her students. They just absorb everything she says and are eager for more. Golson is so blessed to have her. I can’t imagine how many teachers chose that profession because of her.”
Golden found her calling is an understatement if there ever was one. She began her teaching career August 14, 1990 at Grand Ridge School teaching fourth grade. August 19, 1991, she moved to Golson Elementary School where she began as a kindergarten teacher. Twenty-seven years later, she can still be found in a kindergarten classroom at Golson Elementary.
Golden is married to Alan Golden and they have three children, Blythe Golden, Steffin Golden and Kaidd Golden.
