Sneads Lady Pirates continue in search of # 6

District Champions District Champions Photo By: Roy Edenfield

When Heather Brinkmeier took over for long-time and proven winning coach Sheila Roberts, she knew she had huge shoes to fill – comparable to the coach that replaced Joe Gibbs or Chuck Noll in the NFL. She has more than proven she was and is up to the challenge of having her team ready to vie for a sixth state championship.

Last week, playoffs continued following a delay due to Hurricane Michael’s visit to the panhandle but you would not know they had missed a beat. They took the district championship and moved on to take a 3-0 match over Jay in Regional Semifinals.  Sneads won 25-9, 25-6 and topped off the match with a 25-8 win to move on to regional finals.

Leading the Lady Pirates in kills was Michaela Edenfield with 10, followed closely by Kiara Garrett with nine. On board with seven was Lacee Glover, followed by Kazia Gainer with five and Ariana Lee with four.

Michaela Edenfield recorded three blocks, followed by Ariana Lee with two and Kazia Gainer with one.  Picking up three digs each were Lacee Glover, Kiara Garrett, Jordyn Riano, Abby Perkins, Ariana Lee, Kazia Gainer and Michaela Edenfield while Kilee Bowen and Leah Roland had one dig each.

Jordyn Riano recorded 22 assists with Kilee Brown making two and Abby Perkins had one.

Sneads was scheduled to take on Baker Tuesday night on their home court. Results of that game will be covered in next week’s edition of the TIMES.
