Claude L. Butler

Mr. Claude L. Butler, 91, a native of Climax, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Marianna, Florida after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was a veteran of the United States Navy of WW II, serving with honors aboard the ship NAFIEH.  Claude was a retired Linesman with the Quincy Telephone Company in Quincy, Florida.  He loved to fish and turkey hunt when the chance presented itself.  Claude was a loving father, grandfather and a genuine family man.

He is survived by his daughter Claudette Davis and her husband Carl of Sneads, Florida; a sister, Barbara Tharpe of Quincy, Florida;  three grandchildren, Ashley Davis,  Ben Davis (Misty),  Scott Davis (Kelsey); five great grandchildren, Jonathan Davis,  Bridget Davis,  Zachary Davis,  Bryant Davis and Raily Weeks; two great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Claude was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary E. Butler, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation with the family will take place at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, August 11, 2017, from 10:00 till 11:00 AM CST, one hour prior to Funeral Services which will commence at 11:00 AM CST in the Chapel, followed by Committal and Interment Services privately with the family at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, Florida. Military Honors by United States Navy will be presented in honor of this Veteran.

Betty Jean Lanier

Mrs. Betty Jean Lanier, 72, passed away at her home in Sneads, Florida, after bravely fighting a lengthy illness, Sunday, July 23, 2017.  She was a lifelong resident of Sneads, Florida and was surrounded by her loving husband and many of her family and her dear companion puppy, “Lady” as she journeyed to her Lord and Savior.   She was a member of the El Bethel Assembly of God Church of Grand Ridge, Florida, loved to fish, grow flowers in her garden and “shop”.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her as family and friend. 

Betty is survived by her husband, David Lanier of Sneads, Florida;  her two daughters, Elisabeth “Becky” Goss and her husband Frank of Lynn Haven, Florida  and  Sherry Robinson of Grand Ridge, Florida;  a son, Carlis Raymond Johnson and his wife Andria of Panama City, Florida;  one sister Vivian “Nan” Brown of Sneads and a brother, Isac “Buddy” Neel and his wife Linda of Sneads;  also eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Betty was preceded in death by a husband, Carlis R. Johnson, Sr. ,  her parents Dolly E. and Isia W. Neel and a sister, Norma J. Harper.

Visitation with the family will take place at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home in Sneads, Florida, Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 5:00 till 7:00 PM CST with Funeral Services commencing Friday, July 28, 2017, 11:00 AM CST, at El Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Clinton Howell and Rev. Juno Douglas along with Shane Mercer officiating.  Committal and Interment Services will follow at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery North of Grand Ridge, Florida.

Dorothy Poston Thompson

Mrs. Dorothy Poston Thompson, 89, a native of Chattahoochee passed peacefully in her sleep on July 21, 2017.  She lived  in MacClenny, Florida from 1960 until 1975, when the family moved back to Chattahoochee.  She retired from Florida State Hospital as a Secretary. She was a homemaker for her family, loved crocheting and had a fondness for wearing jewelry and bangles.  Her greatest passion was her grandson.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Ched Thompson and his fiancée Nancy of Sneads, Florida and Joey Thompson and his wife Bobbie of Chattahoochee, Florida; one grandson, Josh Thompson and his wife Lauren of Sneads, Florida; a great grandson, John Austin Thompson of Sneads and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Charles Thompson; her parents, Joe and Etha Poston and a sister, Bobbie Jo Haire.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Monday, July 24, 2017, at 11:00 AM EDT.  Visitation was held with the family prior to the service.

Dorothy Marie Bennett

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Bennett, 86, passed away July 21, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Cypress, Florida, but lived most of her life in Chattahoochee, Florida.  Dorothy was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith and was faithful in serving her Lord and Savior attending Sneads Assembly of God Church.  Her love was her family and work which was evident by the many jobs she held over the years.  After retiring as a Supervisor from Florida State Hospital Dorothy spent some time traveling; however, her love for work and her community led her to a job at CVS in Chattahoochee, FL where she worked another 14 years.  Mrs. Dorothy spent her life serving others and was always willing to lend a hand to help her family, friends or strangers.

 Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Edna Sue Torres of Chattahoochee, FL and Linda Dean (Larry) of Sneads, FL; one son Jeffrey Bennett of Chattahoochee, FL; eight grandchildren, Angela Dean, Cyndy Hathcock (Homer), Stephanie Cook (Eric), Susan Franklin (Gene), Frank Torres, Jessie Torres, Herman Ingram Bennett, Joshua Huel Bennett and seventeen great grandchildren.

 She is preceded in death by her husband Huel Bennett; her parents, Jessie L. and Edna Conner Parker; a brother, Franklin Boone; a sister, Geneva Barnard and a nephew, Douglas Boone.

Funeral Services will be held at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 24, 2017 beginning at 3:00 PM CDT with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to Funeral Services at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel.
