Charles Jackson “Jack” Burgess

Charles Jackson “Jack” Burgess, 87, of Marianna, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was born in Campbellton, Florida on September 3, 1931.   Jack was a veteran of the US Army and served his country honorably.  He was a hardworking businessman, a loving father, proud grandfather and great grandfather.  Jack loved fishing and spending time with his precious family. Jack will be missed by his family and many friends. 

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Martha C. Burgess; two sons, Charles Reggie Burgess (Melissa) and Anthony S. Burgess; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, as well as, many other extended family members and one very special canine friend and protector “Snowball”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Minnie Burgess; and four brothers.

Visitation with family and friends will take place at Eastside Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 12:00 PM CST.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 1:00 PM CST with Dr. Shawn Buice officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. Interment will be private on a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN  38105.

Ruby Smith Ware

Ruby Smith Ware, of Sneads, FL was born July 14, 1930 in Havana, FL and went to be with her Lord on February 17, 2019 in Marianna, FL, surrounded by her loving family.  Ruby was a remarkable woman who was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, cooking and spending precious time with her family. Ruby served the State of Florida as an Executive Secretary in the Auditor General’s Office and retired after more than 30 years of service.  Prior to working for the State of Florida, she worked many years for Optometrist’s Dr. Turner and Dr. Stephens in Quincy, FL as their office manager.  Ruby will be missed deeply by her family and friends.

Ruby is survived by two daughters, Debra Conrad (Paul) of Sneads, FL and Sheryl Elder (Tom) of Sneads, FL; two sons, Johnny Smith (Dianne) of Quincy, FL and Mike Smith of Tallahassee, FL; a niece, Sara Clark; a nephew, Bobby Joyner, as well as, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. 

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Carrie Dykes; her husband, Carl Ware; a sister, Rosa Lee Mote; and two grandsons, Paul McDaniel and Paul Conrad.

Graveside Services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, FL on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM CST with Rev. Chris Smith officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.

Ann Parmer Dickson

Ann Parmer Dickson, resident of Chattahoochee, FL for 67 years, was born December 3, 1951 in Quincy, Florida and went to be with her Lord on February 2, 2019 in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by her loving family.  Ann was a remarkable woman who was an avid reader, enjoyed doing cross word puzzles and crochet, watching classic movies on Netflix, Seminole football, and traveling to St. Augustine, FL, her favorite vacation destination.  She retired from Florida State Hospital after 38 years as a Medical Unit Supervisor. Ann loved the beach, but most of all she loved her husband William Dickson.  Ann and William were married on July 16, 1970 and had two wonderful children Bryan and Amy.  She did not know her love could be any greater than for her husband and children until her two precious grandchildren Maison and Parker were born. Ann will be missed deeply by her family and friends.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, William Dickson; one son, Bryan Dickson (Alexa) of Sneads, FL; one daughter, Amy Dickson of Sneads, FL; her parents James and Ross Parmer; one brother Jamie Parmer (Rebecca) of Sneads, FL; two grandchildren, Maison Dickson Fulton and Parker Lee Dickson; and several nieces, nephews, special cousins and extended family.   

Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Lavenia Parker Parmer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM EST with Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on February 5, 2019 at 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM EST.  Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, FL.  Flowers will be accepted or donations to the Quincy Music Theater at 1189 E. Washington St. Quincy, FL 32351.

Beverly Jean Kinard

Beverly Jean Kinard was born January 11, 1937 in Mountain Home, Idaho and went to be with her Lord on January 22, 2019 in Mariana, Florida, surrounded by her loving family.  Beverly was a remarkable woman who enjoyed reading and traveling the United States.  She came to Florida from California in 1979 where she married the love of her life in Lake Tahoe, Allen K. Kinard, for thirty-nine amazing years.  She loved to sew and cook for her family, but mostly loved spending precious time with them. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Grand Ridge, Florida.  Beverly was a very intelligent lady who taught school for children and adults for over forty years before retiring. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Allen K. Kinard; three sons, Thomas Lepper (Robin) of California, Albert Lepper of Oregon, and Allen Kinard (Donna) of Grand Ridge, FL; one daughter, Rebecca Kinard of Sneads, FL; one sister Dorothy Lee Miller “Dot” of Livingston, Montana; six grandchildren, Jeff Lepper, Lee Lepper, Russell Lepper, Billy Kinard, Michael Kinard, and Aaron Kinard; eight great grandchildren Jacob, Gabrielle “Gabby”, Holden, Damien, Diesel, Adelynne, Ezrah, and Isabella.  

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edgar Long and Bertie Lee Ervin; and one sister.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM CST with Rev. James Swafford officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on January 27, 2019 at 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM CST.  Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL.
