James William Neel

James William Neel, 77, of Greenwood, FL, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his residence.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County with the exception of a brief time spent in Calhoun and Liberty Counties.

He retired in 1997 from the Florida Department of Corrections after more than 30 years of service with the state of Florida.

He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, building popsicle stick houses, and playing his guitar and singing.

James was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Burley Hamilton Neel; wife, Rhonda Neel; and sister, Mary Neel Gilley.

He is survived by two sons, Kenny Neel and William Neel of Greenwood; two daughters, Angie Pettis and husband, Russell of DeFuniak Springs, and Connie Young and husband, Steve of Marianna; one brother, Roy Neel and wife, Tammy of Tallahassee; one sister, Thelma Beloat and husband, Pete of Grand Ridge; eight grandchildren, Mary Kathyrn Pettis Hession and husband, Michael (BoBo) of Richton, Mississippi, Anna Pettis Towery and husband, David of DeFuniak Springs, Morgan Neel of Grand Ridge, Michael Young, Mason Young, Taylor Young, Sarah Young, and Katelyn Young, all of Marianna; one great granddaughter, Lynlee Towery of DeFuniak Springs, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood, Florida on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Russell Pettis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Welcome Assembly of God Cemetery with Obert Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at Welcome Assembly of God Church.

Sue Ditty

Sue Ditty, age 83 of Bascom, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Sue was born on December 27, 1933 in Sneads, Florida to Van Lockhart and Oley Sasser Lockhart. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and worked as a caregiver at Sunland Center in Marianna. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bascom.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Loyce Ditty; parents: Van and Oley Lockhart; brother: Sammy Lockhart.

She is survived by her two daughters: Elaine Oestrike and husband Harold “Chip” of Bascom, FL, Debbie McCran and husband W.O. of Cypress, FL; brother-in-law: Joseph C. Ditty and wife Jeffie of Bascom, FL; sister-in-law: Bernice McDaniel of Bascom, FL; three grandchildren: Josh Oestrike of Panama City, FL, Marion McCroan of Marianna, FL, Tony McCroan of Cypress, FL; two great grandchildren: Michells Phillips of Tallahassee, FL, Tillman McCroan of Tallahassee, FL; six great-great grandchildren: Craig Phillips, Emma Riley, Noah Phillips, Jack Phillips, Blakleigh Pervis all of Cypress, FL, Summer Desmine of Altha, FL; nieces: Vickie Fowler and husband Bobby of Bascom, FL, Kim Shouppe and husband Jeff of Panama City, FL, Nola Register of Marianna, FL, Jennifer Luther and husband Jeff of Tampa, FL; nephew: Jason Lockhart and wife Donna of Tallahassee, FL; several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Bascom, Florida with Rev. Chris Nelson and Rev. Alvin Roberts officiating. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bascom. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends from 5-7P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Hickory Grover Free Will Baptist Church. William Angus Lipford

William Angus Lipford, age 80 of Cottondale, passed from this life on June 3, 2016 at Chipola Nursing Pavillion in Marianna, Florida.

 

William was born on October 14, 1935 in Marianna, Florida to George Riley Lipford and Dellie Adkins. He served in the United States Marine Core and was a lifelong resident of the panhandle. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Kynesville.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Dellie Lipford; loving wife: Dorthy Lipford; daughter: Charlotte Lipford.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Sandy Elizabeth Hutto of Marianna, Florida; son: William “Bill” Lipford and wife Loretta of Alford, Florida; two sisters in law: Gewn Lipford and Leola Lipford both of Marianna, Florida; six grandchildren: Chelesea, Sage, Jenae, Sean, Nichols, and Phillip.

 

Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at New Salem Baptist Church in Kynesville, Florida with Rev. Donnie Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

Mary Ruth (Miller) Farmer

Mary Ruth (Miller) Farmer, 90, of Marianna, FL entered rest Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Farmer was born September 10, 1925 in Center Hill, FL.  She retired in 1987 after 22 years as a nurse at Jackson Hospital. She enjoyed her God and her family.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Snowden Samuel Farmer, Jr. of 68 years in November, 2014; as well as her parents, Thomas Harris and Ada Ella (Hooten) Miller of Center Hill, FL.  Mrs. Farmer is survived by her son, Tom Farmer and wife, Johanna of Marianna; three daughters, Linda Hall and husband, Herb of Greenwood, FL, Melody Denham and husband, Dale of Largo, FL, Joy Buczek and husband, Tony of Donalsonville, GA and 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4:30pm EST, Friday, October 23, 2015 at New Hope Family Worship Center  (5095 Hwy 91N) in Donalsonville, GA.  Private interment will be held the following day at Riverside Cemetery in Marianna, FL. The family will receive friends from 3:30 – 4:30pm EST prior to services at the church.
