Joe Lewis Higgins

Joe Lewis Higgins, 93 of Marianna, originally from Mishawaka, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, May 10, 2019.

Joe was born in Waterloo, Alabama to Donald and Tishia Higgins and moved to Mishawaka as a teenager with his family. 

He was a WW2 Veteran serving in the US Army in France in various locations. He retired after thirty years with the Northern Indiana Brass Company in Elkhart, Indiana and was a member of the First Church of God.   He adored and was adored by his grandchildren, known to them as the candy man always having candy and sweets nearby. He was an avid fisherman and fished all over the US and Canada and loved traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Tishia Higgins of Waterloo Alabama, Sisters Blanche Garrett of South Bend, Indiana and Mary Dzvonar of Mishawaka, Indiana.

He is survived by one sister, Lois Claeys of South Ben, Indiana, his daughter Linda Sue Higgins (Trefz) of Marianna, granddaughters Wendy Lee Gay and husband Kevin Dale of Alford, Shalon Renae Register and husband Jeffrey of Marianna,  great grandchildren Nicole Williams, Amber Bradley, Brooke Bradley, Danae’ Williams, great grandsons Joshua Rogers and Ian Sparks Register great great granddaughter Brinley Grace Staten and great great grandson Killian Cole Williams along with a host of neices and nephews. 

The family will have a private graveside and Celebration of Life service.

Internment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Cottondale with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emerald Coast Hospice.

Patricia Jane Griffin

 

Patricia Jane Griffin, age 84 of Greenwood, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2019 at home.

She was born at Royal Oak, Michigan and lived many years in Florida. She was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roland and Grace Mildner; brother: Mike Mildner. She was an avid quilter, gardener and many other activities including her love of flying small planes. 

She is survived by her husband, Phil of Greenwood, Florida. Roland and Susie MIldner of Naples, Florida, sister Sally Scott of St. Augustine, Florida, son Walter and Chrissy Bentley of Cleveland, Ohio, daughter Debra and Jack Mandula of Cleveland, Ohio, son Robert and Peggy Bentley of Janesville, Wisconsin, daughter Terry Bentley of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, step-children Rick and Chris Griffin, Mike and Luann Griffin of Janesville, Wisconsin, Ellan and Bobbie Griffin of Delavan, Wisconsin, Ron and Crystal Griffin of Whitewater, Wisconsin, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. 

There will be no service or viewing, by her request.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas

Harley Shianne Hussey

Harley Shianne Hussey, age 19 of Marianna, passed from this life on April 1, 2019 at Jackson Hospital.

Harley was born on November 30, 1999 in Sioux City, Iowa to Doug Hussey and Sandra Patrick. She was a lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle and enjoyed spending time outdoors mudding and riding four wheelers.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Iven Hussey and Jimmy Patrick.

She is survived by her father: Doug Hussey of Marianna, Florida; mother: Sandra Patrick of Grand Ridge, Florida; paternal grandmother: Alice Louise Burkett of Texas; maternal grandmother: Brenda Porter of Marianna, Florida; four brothers: Jonathan Hussey of Blountstown, Florida, Joseph Ranew and wife Leanna of Cypress, Florida, Justin Tomlinson of Cypress, Florida, Jeremy Hussey of Marianna, Florida; two sisters: Taryn Hussey and husband Leo Alaniz of Marianna, Florida, Skylar Ranew of Marianna, Florida.

Funeral service will be held 6P.M. Monday, April 8, 2019 at Lighthouse Community Church in Marianna, Florida with Rev. Ellis Vickery officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request monetary donations be made to Obert Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.

Harold J. Pate

Harold J. Pate, age 72 of Cottondale, passed from this life on March 12, 2019 at Flower’s Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.

Harold was born on September 8, 1946 in Panama City, Florida to J.D. and Toby Ramer Pate. He was lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lou Ettie Pate of Cottondale, Florida; sons: George Pate and wife Ronda of Molino, Florida, Daniel Pate of Cottondale, Florida; daughter: Connie Corbin and husband Phillip of Cottondale, Florida; brothers: Donnie Pate of Tallahassee, Florida, Herman Pate of Fountain, Florida, Phillip Pate of Tallahassee, Florida, Hester Pate of Chipley, Florida; sisters: Judy Fritz of Fountain, Florida, Sybal Lollie of Apalachicola, Florida; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3P.M. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida with Rev. Jack Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Cottondale Assembly of God Cemetery with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing. 

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to Cottondale Lodge No. 206, P.O. Box 528, Cottondale, Florida 32431
