Lydia C. Speights

Mrs. Lydia C. Speights of Marianna, Florida entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2017 at Jackson Hospital.  She was 85 years old.

A native of Bristol, Florida, she resided in Marianna most of her adult life.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and in other departments as needed until she became ill.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband of 52 years, John M. Speights of Marianna; two sons, Myers McCray, Sr. of Royal Palm Beach, Florida and Morris Bowden of Bainbridge, Georgia; two sisters, Mae Agnes Garrett of Bristol, Florida and Marie Gridiron of Corona, California; 11 grandchildren, Karen Rogers, Lisa Burroughs, Deana McCray, Tameka McCray, Marcus McCray, Ashleigh McCray, Myers McCray, II, Fernando McCray, Elder Michael McClendon, Ronald Bowden, Sr. and Tasha Bowden; one brother-in-law, Roosevelt Garrett; five sisters-in-law, Alice Black, Roseanne Soloman, Betty Speights, Louise Speights and Nellie Speights; two special and devoted nieces like daughters, Mildred Holden and Gloria Parrish; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

A homegoing celebration will held Saturday, September 9th at 1p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church Elder Michael McClendon, Rev. Dickson and Rev. Hollis McClendon officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

The remains will lie-in-repose at St. John on Saturday for one hour prior to the 1p.m. funeral time.
