Mother Ida “Nanny” Pressley, 87, of Sneads, FL peacefully departed her earthy Tabernacle on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at her home under the loving care of her daughter, Alma Phyllis Crawford.  Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11 AM CST at Greater Bethel MB Church in Chattahoochee, FL.  Visitation is Friday, September 8, 2017 from 3 PM to 6 PM CST at St. Peter MB Church in Sneads, FL. 

Mother Ida “Nanny” Pressley was born to the late James Edwin Lewis and Maggie Anderson Lewis on January 15, 1930 and was the eldest of five children.  She attended Jackson County Training School in Marianna, FL and received her High School Diploma.  She also attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL and obtained her Associate of Arts Degree.  She returned home and was a teacher at Little Zion School in Sneads. She worked for 30 years at Florida State Hospital while raising four grandchildren (Mitchell, Chermaine, Jennifer and Angela).  After her retirement, she took care of her mother, the late Maggie Lewis until her demise.  Mother Ida joined St. Peter MB Church in Sneads, FL at an early age and served faithfully as a Mother of the church until her health would not allow her to serve.  Her hobbies were riding around, going out to eat, fishing and watching her Dallas Cowboys football games.

She leaves to celebrate her life one devoted and loving daughter, Alma Crawford (Lionel) of Sneads, FL; two step-sons, Clifford Scott of Marianna, FL and Derrick Edwards of Montgomery, AL; a special daughter-in-law, Lenora Edwards of Cottondale, FL; two brothers, Deacon James Lewis (Clara) and Deacon Milous Lewis (Shell) both of Sneads, FL; two sisters, Bernice Tollar of Sneads, FL and Gwendolyn Brown of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren, Angela Sims (Tony) and Jennifer Stephenson both of Marianna, FL, Lionel Crawford and Tabatha Baker (Adrian) both of Sneads, FL, Christine Crawford and Thomas Edwards both of Atlanta, GA, Sherrie E. Wooten (SGM Alden Wooten, US Army) of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Chermaine Carroll (Keshonda) of Quincy, FL; twenty-six great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her extended church families, St. Peter MB Church, Mt. Moriah Church, and Unfolding Ministries Church of God.

Mother Ida was preceded in death by two sons, Elijah Edwards and George Edwards; two grandchildren, Durand J. Edwards and Shaerell Edwards; and one great, great granddaughter, Jaymeeria Nicole Thomas.  Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home of Chattahoochee, FL, are in charge of arrangements.
