Doris Marie (Downing) French

DORIS MARIE (DOWNING) FRENCH Date of Birth: March 3, 1923 Date of Death: May 20, 2018

Doris Marie (Downing) French, 95, of Seminole, Florida, formerly of Marianna Florida passed away at home in Seminole, Florida on May 20, 2018. Doris was born on March 3, 1923 in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of George Franklin Downing and Francis Alberta (Shipman) Downing. Her two brothers George Henry Downing and Robert Allen Downing predeceased her. Doris met Harlo Albert French Jr. (Bud) through a mutual friend and they were married on July 21, 1943.

Bud predeceased her on June 28, 2013. They were married 70 years and had two children, Melinda Louise (French) Frazier and Annabelle Lynne French. Doris is survived by her two daughters Melinda (Doug) Frazier of Port Orchard, WA and Annabelle French (Bill Rasbold) of Seminole, Florida, her granddaughter Susan (Frazier) Larson and three great grandchildren, Daniel, Erin and Andrew Larson of Gig Harbor, WA. After living in Tampa Florida for many years and raising their daughters Doris and Bud retired and moved to Marianna, Florida in 1980. They lived there for over 30 years. In 2011 they sold their home in Marianna and moved to North Carolina with their daughter Melinda and son in law Doug Frazier. After 8 months they then relocated back to Florida to an Assisted Living Facility. Upon Bud’s death in 2013 Doris moved in with her daughter Annabelle French and partner Bill Rasbold. She remained there until her recent death. The walls in her room were covered with the pictures of the family she held so dear. Doris loved to garden, read and draw, helping Bud with many of his furniture plan drawings. She kept photo albums of all the ancestors and had a keen mind on their names and stories of their lives. She was very dedicated to her family. Doris was a very capable, determined and loving wife and mother. She enjoyed good health until close to the end of her life. She will be remembered with much love and be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral

Services for Doris will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
