Myrtle Patterson-Martin

Myrtle Patterson-Martin Myrtle Patterson-Martin

Ms. Myrtle Patterson-Martin of Bascom, Florida, entered into eternal rest of Friday, January 5th surrounded by her loving, caring and devoted family at the home of her daughter in Dothan, Alabama.  She was 86 years old.

 Born in Cosby, Alabama, she resided most of her life in Bascom.  She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Mt. Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served faithfully as Church Secretary, Stewardess Emeritus, Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Missionary Society, Lay Organization and other auxillaries as needed.  She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

She was united in marriage to the late Harry K. Martin.  This union was blessed with many fond memories.

A lifetime of love and cherished memories will forever remain with her devoted family: children: Richard A. Patterson and wife Linda, Dessie P. Mathews and husband Edwin, Diann P. Hayes both of Jacksonville, Florida, Nathaniel Martin and wife Elisha, Jennifer M. Lewis both of Dothan, Alabama, Harriet M. Blanks and Lourenzo F. Martin both of Bascom, Florida; grandchildren, Kathy P. Young (Emerson), Patricia Patterson, April Patterson, DeswinM. Cearnel (Darryl), Edison A. Hayes, Charlynes L. Hayes, Brandon Martin, Nicholas Martin, Kaison Martin, Arie N. Martin, Demetrius Lewis, Adrian L. Lewis, Lourenzo Martin Jr., Deliyah Murphy and Samisha Williams; a host of great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at Mt. Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church on Friday, January 12th from 5-7p.m.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, January 13th at 11a.m. at Mt. Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal church with Bro. Abraham O. Johnson, Pastor,   Rev. Leroy McLeroy, Rev. Kathlean McClain and Rev. Joe Tripp officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the caring staff of Peoples Funeral Home in Marianna, Florida.

The remains will lie-in-repose for one hour prior to the 11a.m. funeral time on Saturday at Mt. Shiloh.
