Classic Southern Desserts Fundraiser Thank-You

Dear Jackson County Times Editor,

I want to take advantage of this public forum to express my deep and sincere thanks to all the people who supported the 7th Annual Classic Southern Desserts fundraiser Thursday night at the Ag Complex on Penn Avenue. Although I was unable to attend due to illness in my family, I have heard from many people that the event was as lovely as ever and loads of fun. Donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals are accepted and used to enhance the event and enrich programs offered by the Jackson County Public Library.

Spearheaded from inception by Glenda Sue Bradley, a member of the Library Advisory Board, and assisted by lots of volunteers, many of whom are members of the Friends of the Library support organization, the event raises several thousand dollars every year that the library utilizes to provide a variety of programs benefiting a broad spectrum of people.

The well attended and well received November program held at the Ag Complex, “A Land Remembered” by Rick Smith, was paid for by such donation funds. Entertainment for the recent African American History Month program held at the library was also funded by donations. The library provides copies of books for the use of library sponsored book club members using donations as well.

Jackson County Public Library is happy to serve our community. Our goal and purpose are to improve services offered to all citizens of Jackson County, and with the support of all the people who contributed to the success of the night’s event, we are sure to succeed in this mission.

Once again, I thank you all. Deborah Hynes, MLS Director, Jackson County Public Library 2929 Green Street Marianna, FL 32446
