Jackson County School Board employees showed up in support of their respective school’s teacher, rookie teacher, and school related employees of the year banquet Monday night at Marianna High School. Following a social hour of refreshments and socializing, everyone adjourned to the auditorium.
Marissa Ballard was named Jackson County’s Teacher of the Year. Appropriately, Ballard was nominated by the very school she attended as a child. Ballard is a kindergarten teacher at Sneads Elementary with seven years teaching experience, all of which have been at Sneads Elementary. Marissa has the awesome experience of teaching with her mother, a veteran teacher at Sneads Elementary. She is married to Dustin Ballard.
Rookie Teacher of the Year for the district went to Samantha Matthews. Matthews is a 5th grade teacher who earned her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education at Chipola College.
School Related Employee of the Year district award went to Renea Hilton. Hilton works at the district office as the Programmer Manager for the school district with 34 years’ experience. She has 31 years at her current site. She is married to David Hilton.
