Marianna Health and Rehab Center enjoys overnight visit

Every year, we hear of trips to Calloway Gardens during the holiday season.  With that in mind, Marianna Heatlh & Rehab Center Administrator Melinda Gay requested permission from the Marianna City Commission to take residents from the Center on an overnight visit to Calloway Gardens.  The City Commission readily agreed and plans were put in place to make the trip happen.

All arrangements were made, five residents were chosen to make the trip, along with five staff members and Gay.  According to Gay who gave a report to the Commission Monday night at their regular monthly meeting, the trip was a huge success.  She said, “The van we took proved to be a challenge but we managed and the residents loved the trip, the lights, the sights, and the food.”

Gay said after the meeting, “The Calloway Gardens staff was wonderful.  They gave the residents a golf cart ride back to the van after the light tour.”

They bundled up before they boarded the Jolly Trolly for a tour of the lights of Calloway Gardens and were all smiles at the sights they saw.  They tried restaurants of everyone’s choosing for their meals and according to Gay, had a great time. They were eagerly anticipating next year’s holiday season in hopes of a repeat adventure.

Kudos to Gay and her staff for the tremendous job they do caring for our older residents and the effort put forth to make their lives as comfortable and rewarding as they do. From Halloween trick or treating to dyeing Easter eggs, to everyday events like bingo, crafts, and sings, they keep the mood festive and bright for all of their residents.
