2018 Black History Month Annual Program - Theme:  “We are more alike than different” Program Speaker: Lenoris Dixon, MBA. Grand Ridge School, 6925 Florida Street, Grand Ridge, Florida 32442  9 AM, February 23rd in the New Gym.

Chipola College Black History Month Celebration sponsored by the Black Student Union will be held on Friday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cultural Arts Center.  We will have the Black Student Union, and the Chipola College Show Choir perform.  Former Florida African American Student Association President Chrissie Banda will provide a presentation on Malawi, Africa her native country and city.  Booth Representatives on hand will be the Jackson County Health Department Tobacco Cessation Program and the Supervisor of Elections Voter Registration representatives. Our guest speaker will be Elder Emeritus Mr. William McCray, cofounder of the Florida African American Student Association.  The event is open to the public.

Alford Community Health Clinic (ACHC) will be open from 10 AM until the last patient is seen, Saturday, February 24, 2018.  ACHC is a free clinic for patients who do not have medical insurance and who meet federal income guidelines.  The Clinic is staffed by qualified physicians, nurses and courteous assistants dedicated to providing quality health care to those with short-term illnesses, as well as chronic conditions; walk-ins are always welcome. New patients should telephone 850-209-5501 for more information. All patients are urged to sign-in before 11:00 AM. Alford Community Health Clinic is located two blocks east of Hwy 231 in Alford, at 1770 Carolina Street. We are open on the fourth Saturday of each month, unless otherwise posted.

Sexual Assault Survivors Group - hosted by Gulf Coast Sexual Assault Program for ages 18 and above first & third Thursdays of each month in 2018. Location: Gulf Coast SAP Program office 2901 Madison St., Marianna from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Refreshments provided.  The purpose of this group is to provide support for adult survivors of sexual assault and those who were sexually abused as children. Survivors will be provided an atmosphere that helps them gain an understanding about sexual assault and how it has affected their lives. This group will create an empowering environment where participants can learn new coping skills, identify personal goals and build relationships.
